SCABE SNB
AS SCOURING AGENT:
As Scabe SNB is having excellent stability under the alkaline conditions prevailing in the Scouring bath, it acts as an excellent scouring agent. Being a solvent base product it is very efficient in removal of natural waxes and other ingredients, which need to be removed to get good absorbent fabric.
Scable SNB can be used in peroxide boiling along with Stabil PBS for hosiery, other knitted fabrics or normal woven materials. It can also used for scouring of 100% polyester or its blends.
AS STAIN REMOVER:
Scabe SNB is an excellent ‘STAIN REMOVER’ that can be used in jet dyeing operation for simultaneous dyeing & stain removal. It also prevents rope marks, acts as a deformer & leveling agent during dyeing. At the end of dyeing operation it acts as a reduction clearing agent. Scabe SNB can also be used as effective stain remover either in scouring or peroxide or souring bath. It can also be applied by spotting & padding
techniques.
PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:
-
Light yellow – brown transparent liquid with harmless odor.
-
Non-ionic in nature, pH of 10% aqueous solution is about 8.0.
-
Aqueous emulsions are milky, stable to acidic and alkaline pH as required for common Processing, even at higher temperature.
-
Contains no oxalic acid, or any other acidic component to remove iron stains unlike many other products available in the market. It has been observed that process houses Sometimes receive cloth having number of stains in a meter length. In such a cloth, Applying stain remover manually to each stain and then washing. With water becomes a problem. Some of the stains are not washed properly after Applying stain remove. Acidic residue on cloth may cause damages to cellulosic Component.
-
Scabe SNB is also devoid of Chlorinated solvents which cause either heavy pick up or hallowing during dyeing. This can be tested easily by using polyester viscose blend, applying stain remover under testing and keeping it unwashed over night. Next day it is washed and dyed with any Indigosol Colour. Under such test, Scabe SNB, does not give darker shade at the spotted area whereas chlorinated Solvent based stain movers develop distinctly darker shades on such spots.
-
Scabe SNB is devoid of oxidizing agents and reducing agents, and can be applied to dyed material without any harm.
-
Scabe SNB, is having shelf life of more that six months. There is a tendency of becoming yellower on ageing, however; there is no change in the efficiency of the stain remover.
METHODS OF APPLICATIONS:
Sourcing
The peroxide treatment may be applied to the close after various stages up on the set up of the process house. The peroxide treatment may be done by continuous manner by Pad – Batch process / Pad – Steam process or by batch processes (liquor immersion type) using jet / winch / jigger / kier machine. It may be done after desizing / scouring / mercerizing / hypochlorite bleaching etc. However, it is suggested to carry out atleasat demineralization treatment prior to peroxide bleach, if the cloth is likely to have free iron parcicles from weaving. Or high iron impurities from any other source. Demineralization method involves treatment with sulpharic acid 5 g/1 + oxalic acid 2 g/1 at 60 followed by hot & cold wash. The iron impurities have tendency to cause pin holing iron particle due to accelerated peroxide bleaching if the demineralization pre treatment is not carried out prior to
peroxide.
Sodium silicate is also a peroxy stabilizer, however if the water is hard it gives very harsh feel to the cloth. Sodium silicate stabilizing effect is nit suitable for alkalinity obtained by caustic soda 40 g/1. If the water is not hard then 5 – 10 g/1 sodium silicate may be used in the bath & half the quantity of Stabil PBS may be
reduced to improving on the chemical cost. Stabil PBS is miscible with sodium silicate.

HAND SPOTTING:
Spotting is an age old process for removing of stains. Scabe SNB easily removes stains of industrial greases and lubricating oils. As indicated earlier the ph of Scabe SNB is about 7.0 and hence is harmless for delicate fabric containing viscose. Scabe SNB, on account of its almost neutral ph does not cause any damage to the hands of the
worker.
PAD / JIG METHOD:
In another method goods are padded with Scabe SNB – 10 g/1, hydrogen peroxide – 1 g/1 and kept overnight, under proper cover. Next day goods are washed on jigger and in the same wash liquor further treated with oxalic acid – 5 g/1 at 80 for one hour. Remaining process for bleaching is done as
usual.
Goods with coloured woven yarn can directly be treated on jigger with 5 to10 g/1 of Scabe SNB. Treatment is done at 80 for one hour. It is frequently observed that coloured yarn in such goods is not properly washed and bleeds furiously, even after completion of scouring. In a pile of such cloth unloaded from jigger after scouring, the bottom layers get soiled with ‘water mark’ type colour stains. In such type of goods Scabe SNB, whilw removing stains also helps in complete removal of loose colour and eliminates formation of water marks.
On jogger Scabe SNB can be used along with peroxide or oxalic acid or alkali like soda ash, caustic soda etc. Depending upon the type of blend under consideration, processors can use Scabe SNB along with scouring, oxalic treatment or peroxide bleach.
SIMULTANEOUSLY APPLICATION OF DYEING & STAIN REMOVING ON JET:
The cloth with coloured woven patterns, required to be topped with medium to light shades are conveniently treated by this method. Scabe SNB is more popularly used in jet dyeing m/c, using an heat set cloth for dyeing. This however, cayses additional shrinkage & the quality of cloth where such additional shrinkage is acceptable, can only be processed by this process. After the cloth is loaded Scabe SNB 1 g/1 is added and the cloth is worked for five minutes. Heating cycle is started simultaneously. Next acetic acid 1 g/1 is added and cloth is worked for further five minutes. The predispersed colour is then added and dyeing cycle is run as per required by the quality of cloth. For the coloured woven cloths the dyeing cycle is carried out at 100º. Cloth is worked at maximum reel speed and the advantage of rubbing action between cloth to water and cloth to cloth is achieved, which helps in removing stains. Scabe SBN removes stains during dyeing without interfering the colouring process. The cloth gets simultaneously scoured. Stain-free and dyed. Scabe SNB behaves like a leveling agent also. As per the common feature of any leveling agent, the colour value loss up to 5 to 10% is observed due to simultaneous dyeing & stain removing. This is however, many times acceptable total process time is considerably
saved.
